STRUCTURAL SHIFTS IN KAZAKHSTAN'S MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY
Abstract
Purpose of research. To analyze structural changes in the manufacturing industry of Kazakhstan based on the calculation of the coefficient of absolute structural shifts for 1990-2019 and to identify the relationship with the growth rate of the country's economy.
Methodology. The authors summarize international research experience in this field: L. Kazinets, J. Fagerberg, S. Feldman, D. McClain, K. Palmer, R. Howarth, L. Schipper, P. Duerr, S. Strom, J. Ferraz, D. Kupfer, F. Serrano, C. Chandrasekhar, M. Hayashi, C. Perez, A. Lyakin, S. Glazyev, V. Polterovich, and Higher School of Economics (Moscow) researchers. The process of learning is carried out on the principle of "input-output": based on empirical research and calculations based on quantitative data on statistics of Kazakhstan, as well as logical analysis of the calculation results.
Originality / value of research. The analysis, according to authors, more objectively reflects changes in the structure of the manufacturing industry in Kazakhstan and can be used for further research in this area.
Findings. The authors calculated the coefficient of absolute structural changes in the manufacturing industry of Kazakhstan for 1990-2019 using official statistical data, and considered the relationship with the cyclical development of the economy.
